Meet Give Us A Wave

Grant McGregor

Grant is from Irvine in Ayrshire (Scotland) and has lived in Bristol with his wife and two children for the past 7 years.  He plays a lot of 5-a side football, but other than that is not as active as he once was.  Signing up for the race is something he has been focused on doing since watching a friend complete it in 2022.

Grant loves the ocean and being a PADI qualified diver, is looking forward to potentially spotting a variety of ocean life on the crossing.  Learning new skills (navigation, safety training and learning to row!) and achieving something remarkable by crossing the Atlantic is the ultimate goal.

Grant’s charity of choice, is The Grand Appeal.

Tom Curtis

Tom lives in Bristol and is married with two children. He loves football, trail running and his PS5…. he is waiting to find out if he loves rowing too!   Tom can’t wait to see what wildlife he gets to see on the row, but he’s not looking forward to the broken sleep!

Tom is incredibly excited to take on this life-changing challenge and all that it entails, and to show his children that life is full of incredible adventures and experiences available to grasp.

Tom’s charity of choice, is The Marine Conservation Society.

Tim Stone

Tim lives on the eastern edge of Dartmoor so is used to lots of water, even if it is the rainfall variety!  He loves an outdoor challenge, hence wanting to row the Atlantic.  A former Royal Marine, Tim is married with three children and is a sub standard rugby player, which has resulted in a set of dodgy knees and hip!  Tim is not adverse to taking on challenges and raising money for charity, as he has 15 London marathons to his name.

Having watched the World’s Toughest Row for a number of years, he’s keen to be taking part in the 2025 race and helping to raise a substantial amount of money for charity while experiencing the open seas and all the challenges out there.

Tim’s charity of choice, is The Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Rhys Owen

Rhys thrives on adventure and is always looking for the next challenge, which is why he’s taking on the World’s Toughest Row.  Based in Portsmouth as a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy, he enjoys a number of outdoor activities, including skiing, rugby, and converting his van into a campervan for off-grid adventures.

Though the demands of rowing across the Atlantic are immense, both physically and mentally, Rhys is eager to embrace the journey and all it entails, from stunning wildlife to sleepless nights, knowing every stroke is for a cause close to his heart.

Rhys’ charity of choice, is ANDYSMANCLUB.
